Australian Spoons 2010 - Margaret Cassidy and Mary Therese Fitzpatrick won the ILGU Australian Spoons in the South County heat and went on to play in the Eastern District Regional finals in Craddockstown on Monday 9th August where they came 2nd place. They then went on to play in the All Ireland finals at Carrick-on-shannon on Monday 23rd August. Conditions were tough due to heavy downpours. Luck wasn;t on their side on the day and the home Carrick-on-shannon team won with 39 pts. Well done ladies for getting so far and for raising the national profile of South County Ladies Golf Club!
Ria Kenny 2010 - Pauline Curtis won Class 1 and Phil Caulfield won Class 2 in the local ILGU Ria Kenny heat at the South County on 29th May and 1st June. Both went on to play in the Regional finals at Hermitage on Monday 23rd August. Pauliline brought in an excellent 36pts but lost on countback for Gross and Class prize. The winner was from Dublin City with 38pts. Phil had a very respectable 32pts, just 1 point short of a class prize. Well done ladies....
2010 has been a great year for South County ladies, progressing further in many regional and national finals...The Ladies are going from strength to strength!

The determination of the result is calculated on the best 8 scores the player has, rather than the accumulation of all the points added.
Well done to South County Ladies Team MaryTherese Fitzpatick and Margaret Cassidy who have come 2nd in the ILGU Eastern District in the prestigious ILGU Australian Spoons competition, missing out on 1st place by a mere 2 points. They now go forward with the Top 5 Eastern District teams to the All Ireland finals in Carrick-on-Shannon Golf Club on Monday 23rd August - best wishes ladies....we are all rooting for ye!
The Australian Spoons, presented to the Ladies Golf Union in 1969 by the Australian Ladies Golf Union, sees each club run an 18 hole Greensomes stableford competition and the funds raised go towards helping elite players participate in International tournaments.
A pair from each Club went forward to their District Final (in our case the Eastern District final). The top 5 pairs and the pair with the best gross score in their District Final go to the All-Ireland Finals in Carrick-on-Shannon Golf Club on Monday 23rd August.

The ILGU have been visiting all ILGU courses over the past year, to rate them according to the USGA rating system. South County Ladies Course (red tees) was rated at the end of 2009 and as a result, we have received a new Standard Scratch Score (SSS) of 73, to replace our existing SSS of 72....find out more about the rating system, SSS and what it means for you by clicking here.
